Kids of Excellence Child Development Center is a private, nonprofit childcare center established in July of 1999 by Kristi Reddick- Givens. Our vision is to provide the highest quality of education to young children in the neighborhood we serve, to ensure readiness for school for all children by using developmentally appropriate practices established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and promoted by the Louisiana Quality Rating System.
Kids of Excellence invest in the development of the whole child, through cooperation of the school, family, staff, and community to be most effective. We believe in the value and uniqueness of each child we serve. We plan to promote optimal development of all children in our neighborhood.
Currently, Kids of Excellence has a 4 star rating by Quality Rated System administered by the Louisiana Department of Social Services. We are working toward national accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Our Staff & partnerships
We provide low student- teacher ratios to promote personal interaction with student and teacher.
We believe that the nature of teachers interactions and the techniques and approaches with children play a critical role in children’s learning across a variety of developmental areas. Teachers provide high quality experiences for the children in their classrooms by engaging in multiple aspects of children’s behavior, interests, and needs, observing the environment, and managing the scheduling, groupings, and supervision of the children.
We are teaming up with Second Harvest, an anti-hunger network who will provide fresh nutritional meals each day, as well as nutritional education courses for parents. We will receive weekly visits from NOLA Public Library, fostering literacy, as they will introduce new stories to our students each week. We also partner with Boys Town HS, Homer Plessy School, Agenda for Children and many more.
our curriculum & Enrichment programs
We provide a dynamic learn through play curriculum designed to foster the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of the children we serve.
Our curriculum is designed to foster the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of the children we serve. Our philosophy of learn through play education is grounded in the research of Lev Vygotsky, Howard Gardner, and Erik Erikson. We use their proven teaching methods to prepare today’s children to meet tomorrow’s challenges, striving to close the achievement gap for children in our community.
We are committed to integration of art, music, stem, technology, and second languages. We incorporate daily art, music, and stem learning. Classrooms are equipped with computers, and we offer weekly Spanish courses and a bi-lingual library.
our families & Affordability
We believe that families are the first and primary teachers of their children. We value partnerships with families to maximize the quality of children’s care and education experiences.
We seek to enhance children’s development by working with, understanding, respecting, and sharing information with families.
We offer Pre-K Expansion Grant Program (free tuition for Pre-K 4) and Child Care Assistance(reduced tuition for infants and toddlers).
